the team and their ideas

Instant Windows have their origin in 2012, when Wendelin Federer first realized how dire an effect a broken window can have on the lives of people living in areas affected by crisis and started thinking about possible solutions. The idea sat idle until an evening spent in Zurich with his old friend Reto Togni. They decided to join forces to create a “cheap, universal, transparent insulation off the roll” and Instant Windows became a project at the intersection of humanitarian aid and design - their respective fields.

While Reto’s challenge was to develop the product, Wendelin set out to validate its humanitarian relevance. When they put the pieces together in a prototype, this first Instant Window was met with considerable interest from the humanitarian world.

The two were joined by Heinrich Nolte / Henner, who brought his business acumen to complete the founding team of the Instant Windows Project.
