the team and their ideas

The Instant Windows project began back in 2012, when Wendelin Federer first realized how much of an impact a broken window can have on the lives of people living in crisis areas. He began considering possible solutions, but the idea for Instant Windows sat idle until one evening when he met with his old friend Reto Togni in Zurich. They decided to join forces to create “cheap, universal, transparent insulation from a roll.” Thus the Instant Windows were born. The project united their respective fields of design and humanitarian aid.

While Reto focussed on developing the product, Wendelin set out to verify its humanitarian relevance. They put the pieces together to create a prototype, and the first Instant Window was met with considerable interest from the humanitarian relief sector.

The two were joined by Heinrich Nolte/Henner, who brought his business acumen to the founding team to help realise the Instant Windows vision.
